Mission Accomplished:
Kansas House of Representatives Let Taxpayers
Know Where They Stand on Raising Taxes
Topeka: By a 63-57 vote the House of Representatives voted to send HCR
5043 back to the Appropriations Committee for more "study."
The amendment was carried by Rep. Bill Feuerborn, D-Garnett.
HCR 5043 called for a "super-majority" vote by both houses of the
legislature to pass a tax increase.
Kansas voters will now be able to study the record of their
legislators.
There are 57 members who wanted to take a firm stand on whether to
make
it more difficult to raise taxes on hard-working Kansans.
There are 63 members who wanted to duck this critical issue and voted
against the interests of taxpaying Kansans.
"I appreciate Speaker Mays for allowing the record to show which
legislators stand up for the taxpayer and which legislators do not.
Thanks to the leadership of Rep. Lance Kinzer, Rep. Brenda Landwehr and
Rep. Jason Watkins for their principled advocacy of this
legislation," said Alan Cobb, State Director of Americans for
Prosperity.
