Lance Kinzer Announces Candidacy for Kansas House of Representatives.
Lance Kinzer, the current Chairman of the Olathe Republican Party, has announced that he intends to be a candidate for Kansas House District 14, which consists of much of Northern Olathe. District 14 is currently represented by Dan Williams who has recently announced that he will not be seeking re-election. Mr. Kinzer stated that he will step down as Chairman of the Olathe Republican Party in order to pursue this legislative opening.
Mr. Kinzer is 33 years old and has been married to his wife Michelle for 8 years. They have two children, both of whom attend Olathe Public Schools. Mr. Kinzer is a graduate of Olathe South High School, Wheaton College (Ill.), and The University of Kansas School of Law. He served 4 years on active duty as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He is currently a partner in the Olathe law firm, Schlagel, Damore & Gordon, LLC. Mr. Kinzer also serves as Johnson County Chair for the Brownback for Senate campaign and is Chairman of the Johnson County Republican Party’s Dennis Moore Watch Web-Site. Mr. Kinzer is a member of Olathe Noon Rotary and is an active member of Park Woods Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Kinzer stated, “My family first moved to Olathe in 1979. I care very deeply about this community and its future. Our State is facing significant challenges that require vigorous leadership. I trust everyone understands that it is imperative that we continue to provide our children with quality education. I am convinced that local control of schools is vital, and that the current school funding formula must be reworked in order to allow us to move beyond the seemingly endless school finance morass in which we have been embroiled for the past few years. Equally important is the obligation of elected officials to exercise fiscal restraint. All too often the real financial challenges facing families are overlooked by government officials. Tax increases should not be viewed as a cure-all for our budgetary challenges; the real solution to our fiscal problems can only come through economic growth. We need a tax and regulatory climate that encourages entrepreneurship.”
Mr. Kinzer went on to say, “I believe that the State also has a vital role to play in defending the core values that are necessary prerequisite to a healthy society. The right to life, the preservation of the institution of marriage and the protection of our children from gratuitous violence and sexual promiscuity are of crucial importance. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss these and other important issues during the coming campaign.”
